Terms of Service

1. Who we are

Inkmii ("Inkmii," "we," "us") sells custom, made-to-order comics and manga — as books, posters, and notebooks — at inkmii.com. Every product is designed by you through our order flow and then created by hand by our team. You can reach us any time at support@inkmii.com; we aim to reply within 1–2 business days.

Inkmii is a trade name (DBA) of ARKR Finance LLC, a Hawaii limited liability company. You can reach us by email at support@inkmii.com, or by mail at Inkmii, PO Box 3518, Kailua-Kona, HI 96745.

2. Agreeing to these terms

These terms are a contract between you and Inkmii. By using inkmii.com, starting an order, or completing a purchase, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

3. Who can use Inkmii

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to place an order. The site itself is intended for people 13 and older and is not directed at children under 13.

Children can absolutely star in an Inkmii comic — many of our comics are made by parents about their kids. But the account, the order, and any photos or details about a child must be provided by an adult with the authority to do so (a parent or legal guardian). See section 7 for the permissions you confirm when you include a real person.

4. Your account

Signing in with your email address and a one-time code creates your account; you can optionally add a password for faster sign-in later. Keep your email account secure — anyone with access to your inbox can access your Inkmii orders. You're responsible for activity under your sign-in, and you agree to give us accurate information (especially your shipping address — we ship to what you type).

5. How ordering works

  • You design it. Pick a product, choose your options, write your story or script, and create up to four characters. While you work, you can generate AI-powered style previews of your characters (see section 8).
  • You pay. Checkout is handled by Stripe. Your order is confirmed when payment completes, and we email you a receipt with your order number.
  • We craft it by hand. Your complete order goes to our team, who create your comic panel by panel. Usually within 3–5 business days of your purchase, we email you a proof — a preview of your finished piece.
  • You approve it. Nothing goes to print until you approve your proof (section 6). After you approve, your order typically ships within 7–10 business days.

These timelines are our good-faith estimates, not guarantees — if we're ever running behind on your order, we'll email you.

Unfinished drafts are saved automatically so you can come back and finish on any device. We may send you a reminder about an unfinished draft; saved character artwork on abandoned drafts is deleted after about 30 days of inactivity (we'll warn you first).

6. Proofs and approval

The proof step is your quality gate — and your responsibility. Please review your proof carefully: names, spellings, text, layout, and art.

  • Nothing prints until you approve. You can request changes to your proof, and we'll work with you to get it right.
  • Approval is acceptance. When you approve a proof, you're confirming that what you see is exactly what we should print.
  • Errors missed at proof are on you. If you approve a proof containing an error you could have caught (a misspelled name, a typo in your story text), a reprint is at your cost. If we introduce an error after your approval, the fix is on us.
  • If you don't respond to your proof email, your order stays on hold until you do — the 7–10-business-day printing-and-shipping clock (section 5) starts when you approve.

7. Your content and real people

"Your content" means everything you put into an order: story text and scripts, character names and descriptions, photos you upload, gift messages, and proof feedback. You own your content. You give us permission (a non-exclusive, worldwide license) to use it solely to provide the service: generating your character previews, creating and printing your product, and communicating with you about your order. We will not use your story, your characters, or anyone's likeness in our marketing without your separate permission.

By placing an order, you confirm that:

  • you own your content or have the rights needed to use it — no copyrighted characters, artwork, or text you don't have rights to;
  • you have permission from every real person whose likeness, photo, or personal details you include (the checkbox on the character step confirms the likeness part of this) — and for anyone under 18, that permission comes from their parent or legal guardian;
  • your content is not unlawful, hateful, harassing, or sexually explicit, and doesn't exploit or endanger minors.

We may decline or cancel an order that violates these rules. If we cancel, we'll refund you in full (section 10). You agree to cover us (indemnify us) for claims arising from your content — for example, if you include someone's likeness without their permission.

8. AI character previews

The character step includes an AI-powered preview so you can see your character's style before you buy. A few honest disclosures:

  • Previews are generated with third-party AI (Google's Gemini image model). Your description — and your photo, if you upload one — is sent to Google to generate the image. Photos are never stored by us; see our Privacy Policy for exactly how this works.
  • Previews are stylized interpretations, not portraits. We deliberately instruct the model to create an original cartoon character rather than a photorealistic likeness, and we don't guarantee any particular resemblance.
  • The preview you save guides our artists, but your final product is made by hand and may differ from the preview. Your proof (section 6) shows you the real thing before it prints.
  • Don't misuse the generator — no attempts to create unlawful, explicit, or rights-violating imagery. We may limit or suspend access to the preview feature to prevent abuse.

9. Pricing and payment

Prices are in U.S. dollars and are calculated at checkout from your exact configuration. Payment is processed by Stripe on Stripe's secure checkout pages — your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our systems. Any applicable sales tax is shown at checkout. We may correct pricing errors on the site; if we cancel an order because of a pricing error, you get a full refund.

10. Cancellations, returns, and refunds

Every Inkmii is custom-made just for you, which shapes what we can offer:

  • No returns or exchanges for a change of mind. A custom comic about you can't go back on a shelf. Your protection is the proof step: nothing prints until you approve it.
  • Cancelling. Need to cancel? Email support@inkmii.com as soon as possible. If you cancel before we've started work on your order, we'll refund what you paid; the refund may be reduced by non-refundable payment-processing fees (typically around 3% of what you paid) where the law allows. Once work has begun — including once your proof has been sent — we may also deduct a fair amount for the work already completed; we'll tell you the amount before processing the refund. After you approve your proof and printing begins, orders can't be cancelled.
  • Our cancellations. In rare cases we may decline or cancel an order before your proof is approved — for a content violation (section 7), a pricing error (section 9), suspected fraud, or because we're unable to fulfill it. If we cancel, we'll tell you why and refund you in full.
  • Damaged, defective, or our mistake? We'll remake or refund it — no hassle. Email us within 14 days of delivery with a photo of the problem.

Refunds go back to your original payment method. If a payment issue comes up, please contact us before opening a dispute with your card issuer — we're a small team and we resolve problems quickly and in good faith.

11. Shipping

We currently ship within the United States only, and US shipping is free on every order. The one exception is foam-mounted posters, which ship at cost — that fee is shown at checkout before you pay. When your order ships, we'll email you — with tracking information when available. Ownership of and risk of loss for your order pass to you on delivery. If your order arrives damaged, section 10 has you covered.

12. Intellectual property

Your product and its artwork: the physical product is yours, and you get a personal, non-commercial license to the artwork in it — share it, post it, gift it, enjoy it. Commercial reproduction of the artwork requires our written permission. Inkmii retains the underlying rights in artwork we create.

Our site and brand: the Inkmii name, logo, site design, and software are ours. Don't copy, scrape, reverse engineer, or interfere with the service.

13. Disclaimers

The website and ordering service are provided "as is." Handmade and printed products vary — slight differences in color, texture, and rendering between screens, proofs, and print are normal and aren't defects. To the extent the law allows, any implied warranties on your product — including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose — are limited in duration to the 14-day period in section 10. Some states don't allow limits on how long an implied warranty lasts, so this limitation may not apply to you.

14. Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Inkmii's total liability for any claim arising out of your order or use of the service is limited to the amount you paid for that order, and we're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, and nothing takes away consumer rights you're entitled to under the law where you live.

15. Changes to the service or these terms

We may update the service and these terms over time. If we make a material change to these terms, we'll post the update here and note the date at the top; for significant changes affecting active orders, we'll email you. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms. Orders are governed by the terms in effect when you placed them.

16. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Hawaii, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before any formal dispute, you agree to contact us at support@inkmii.com and give us a chance to make it right — that's genuinely how we prefer to solve problems.

A few housekeeping items: if any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Inkmii for your order. You can't transfer your order contract to someone else; we may assign these terms if the business is sold or reorganized, and your order and its protections come along with it.

17. Contact

Questions about these terms, your order, or anything else: support@inkmii.com. Include your order number if you have one, and we'll jump right in.
